Alex Arigato and Transparent make sneaker soles sing

The Swedish brand Axel Arigato collaborates with the speaker brand Transparent.

The collaboration with the speaker brand, which is also based in Sweden, resulted in the ‘Sole Speaker’, announced Axel Arigato on Monday. Recycled sneaker soles are supposed to be used for this special speaker.

Axel Arigato is known for his sneaker models. During the manufacturing process of these shoes, parts of white rubber soles are left over and are now used. In the spirit of a circular product solution, these are converted into the ‘skin’ of the new Transparent speaker, which envelops the sound system.

The ‘Soul Speakers’ is also characterized by the uncomplicated interchangeability of the individual parts, which should guarantee an extended service life of the product. Included in delivery are a pair of gloves and a booklet that traces the design process.

“We have long admired Transparent’s work – and it was an eye-opening experience to work with them to develop a unique speaker made from recycled sole waste,” said Max Svärdh, creative director of Axel Arigato. “Both the brand and Axel Arigato believe in creative solutions to extend the life cycle of products by using upcycling techniques to create more sustainable, unique products.”

This is not Axel Arigato’s first collaboration where sustainability is integrated into company ethics. The brand had already teamed up with the British fashion label Mulberry for a 35-piece capsule in the spring. Longevity and the aspect of recycling were taken into account through the use of environmentally certified leather and polyester from recycled PET bottles.

The ‘Sole Speaker’ is available in a limited edition of 19 pieces in the online shop and in the Axel Arigato stores in London, Paris, Berlin and Stockholm. The price of the speaker is 1,500 euros.
