Alessandro Vigilante is the new creative director

Alessandro Vigilante takes over as head designer at French fashion house Rochas.

As creative director, he will be responsible for the fashion house’s ready-to-wear collections, Rochas announced on Monday. He is scheduled to present his first collection at Paris Fashion Week in February. Vigilante succeeds designer Charles de Vilmorin, who left Rochas in April at the end of his contract.

After De Vilmorin said goodbye, the design studio took over the creation, with whom Vigilante is said to have been working with since May for the spring 2024 collection, according to the trade magazine WWD.

“I am very pleased to welcome Alessandro as Creative Director of Ready-to-Wear,” said Philippe Bénaçin, CEO of Interparfums, Rochas’ parent company. “His work is characterized by elegance, modern femininity and the constant exploration of female body expression. With his gaze, he will write a new chapter for this house, built on boldness, femininity and sophistication.”

In addition to his new position, Alessandro Vigilante will continue to concentrate on his label of the same name, which he launched for the FW 21/22 season. Before that, he worked for various Italian fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Lorenzo Serafini. Before starting in the fashion industry and studying at the IED Moda Lab fashion school in Milan, he was active as a dancer.

Rochas belongs to Interparfums. As announced in July, the Paris-based subsidiary of the US group Inter Parfums Inc. has now resumed full administration – including marketing, communications and licensing activities – for the brand.
