T.Among the news of the next Rai television season, the landing of Alessandro Cattelan on Rai 2. After last year’s debut on Rai 1 with When I grow upthe presenter brings his workhorse to state television: EPCCthat becomes “EPCC on Rai 2 ″. The acronym stands for And Then There Is Cattelan and promises to be the continuation of the late show broadcast on Sky Uno from 2014 to 2020.
Alessandro Cattelan leads “EPCC on Rai 2 ″
EPCC will air on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the late evening, starting from 13 September. The format will therefore remain unchanged at the center of each episode there will be interviews, monologues, games and everything that the host has accustomed his audience to. All built on the register of ironywhich has always characterized it.
Irony that Cattelan has also included in When I grow upbut in that case the results weren’t astonishing. His arrival in Rai was one of the most anticipated news of last season, but the show in two evenings highlighted that perhaps it was not yet ready for the flagship. Not bad, because, after the copious criticism, in May it led – very well – Eurovision 2022next to Laura Pausini and Mika.
It was therefore decided to move it to the “young” network to put it to the test with a tailor-made program. EPCCindeed, it is the perfect dress, which the conductor has sewn on himself piece by piece. The program has the advantage of entertain intelligently while offering lightness and divertissement.
A future in Rai?
For Cattelan the arrival on Rai 2 could represent the right opportunity to kick off a solid e lasting career in Rai. A fair compromise among its peculiarities – which allowed him to conquer the “young” audience, from Millennials down – and the needs of state televisionsometimes still unglued from contemporaneity.
Before arriving in Rai, however, Alessandro Cattelan was a Sky man. Not a resource like many, but the conductor par excellence. Young, ironic and with a good gab, he was the host from X Factor from 2011 to 2020. A partnership that lasted 10 years, which highlighted his skills as an entertainer.
MTV and Total Request Live with Giorgia Surina
The real school, however, was MTV. After a few brief experiences on All Music and Italia 1, in 2004, at the age of 24, he arrived at that Music Television that marked the 90s and early 2000s. In a short time, the boy from Tortona, the son of a carabiniere and a hairdresser, who he dreamed of singing in a boy bandbecomes the face of some of the strongest programs of that period.
Among these, the cult must be remembered TRL – Total Request Live. In 2005 his travel companion is Giorgia Surinawith which he had already conducted Long live Las Vegasagain on MTV, and together they become there reference television couple for young audiences. In 2006 comes the solo conductionto then return as a couple in 2007, this time with Elena Santarelli. Between MTV and Sky, she inserts her first experience in Rai, joining the cast of Those that football is …conducted by Simona Ventura.
Alessandro Cattelan actor and writer
Music has (been?) A constant in his career. However, over the years he has also cultivated another great passion: that for soccer. At 18 he made his Serie D debut with the Derthona team, to spend the following year in Promotion with Sarezzano. He resumed sporting activity in 2017, when he resumed playing with the HSL Derthona club. In 2018 he moved to the San Marino club La Fiorita.
Alessandro Cattelan is therefore an eclectic artist. For years, works in radio as a speaker. After several passages on Radio Kiss Kiss, RTL102.5 and Radio 105, since 2013 is part of Radio Deejay, where it leads Cattelandbroadcast from Monday to Friday at 12 noon. In addition to television, radio and football, he has also tried his hand at cinema and in the writing. The big screen sees him protagonist in 2014 with Any goddamn Christmasalongside Alessandra Mastronardi, and in 2018 in the film I’m back.
The activity of writer, however, begins in 2008, when he publishes the novel But life is something else, written with Niccolò Agliardi and published by Mondadori. Two years later it was the turn of Stiff zoneswhile in 2011 he published When are you coming to get me?. Finally, in 2020 it has arrived Emma frees everyone!a fairytale book whose proceeds went to charity.
For Cattelan, 2022 will not only be the time for a new program, but also for another debut, this time at the theater. In late fall, she will take the stage with He always greetedhis first one man showwhich he will take around Italy. After the zero date of November 26 in Alexandria it will be the turn of Milan on 29Turin on 2 December, Rome on 4, Naples on 7, Florence on 8 and Padua on 10. The last stop will be on 11 December in Bologna.
The Netflix parenthesis with A simple question
Simultaneously with the arrival in Rai, then, Cattelan debuted on Netflix with A simple question, docu-series in 6 episodes in which he met prominent personalities of Italian entertainment and sport. Together with them, she tried to answer one of the most difficult questions: how can you be happy? Among the interviewees, Roberto Baggio, Geppi Cucciari, Elio, Francesco Mandelli, Paolo Sorrentino and Gianluca Vialli.
It is not known whether the experience on the platform corresponds to a solo experiment or if, instead, it is thestart of a new collaboration. Of course, the next few months will see him focused on the new challenge from Mamma Rai: conquer the generalist TV audience par excellence.
Private life, between his wife Ludovica Sauer and their daughters
If on a professional level Cattelan is brash, bold enough and reluctant to set television, in the private sector it appears less rebellious and decidedly traditionalist. In 2014 he married Ludovica Sauer, model born in Switzerland to a German father and a Brazilian mother, and raised in Brazil. To crown the love that binds them, the birth of the two daughters: Nina and Oliviaborn respectively in 2012 and 2016.
