Accused of Vastaamo data breach Alexander Kivimäki (formerly Julius Kivimäki) has been released from pretrial detention by the district court’s decision.
Kivimäki has been placed on a travel ban. Kivimäki does not come with an ankle strap. A decision was made on the matter at the end of the session. The decision is not yet in writing, but it will be confirmed to Iltalehti by the regional prosecutor Pasi Vainio.
The Vastaamo trial is still pending in the district court of Länsi-Uusimaa. Judgment will be given later. The prosecutor demands a seven-year sentence for Kivimäki.

Kivimäki is suspected of a data breach targeting Psychotherapy Center Vastaamo.
The police suspect that Kivimäki blackmailed patients by threatening them with the publication of confidential patient information. Patient information was also leaked online.
Kivimäki was wanted and imprisoned in absentia on suspicion of crimes in October 2022. In February 2023, he was caught in France.
In total, there are more than 21,000 interested parties, i.e. victims.
The prosecutor filed charges against Kivimäki in October 2023. The prosecutor demands a seven-year prison sentence for Kivimäki for aggravated data breach, attempted aggravated blackmail, 9,598 aggravated dissemination of information infringing private life, 21,316 aggravated blackmail attempt and 20 aggravated blackmail.
