Alexander Ovechkinin Mikhail– father is dead. Kiekkotähti shared the sad news on his Instagram account.
Mikhail Ovechkin was 71 years old when he died.
– My father passed away today. I thank everyone for your support, but I hope for everyone’s understanding not to disturb my family during these difficult times, Oveshkin writes.
The captain of the Washington Capitals interrupted his season earlier this week by traveling to Russia. The club said at the time that the trip was due to family reasons.
Mikhail Ovechkin was hospitalized earlier. It is not known if the boy made it to his father’s side in his last moments.
It is also unclear when Ovechkin will return to the NHL arena. The Capitals captain has been one of the most important players on his team this season as well. In 54 games, Ovetškin has scored 32+22=54 power points.
