Olympic winner Alexander Bolshunov has received rigorous feedback from its ski sponsor Rossignol.

Over the weekend, Bolshunov posted pictures on his Instagram account of him posing in Soviet uniforms. On Tuesday, the shots had been removed.

TV2 in Norway revealsthat the deletion of the images was based on Bolshunov’s ski sponsor Rossignol.

– We contacted him and told him that Rossignol does not support such updates at all. He realized he had made a mistake that he had by no means meant to. He removed the update immediately, Rossignol Race and Sports Director Colin Barbe tells TV2.

Bolshunov is one of the biggest stars of the Rossignol stable in cross-country skiing.

Images published by a Russian skier were considered a provocation as Russia waged an offensive war in Ukraine. Russian athletes are excluded from all competitions under the International Ski Federation.

Rossignol supports the association’s decision. The French brand has removed all Russian athletes from its website.

– We have suspended cooperation with Russian athletes. We also do not feature them on our website and social media. All cooperation and communication was cut off on March 1st.

According to Barbe, Rossignol monitors the world situation.

Bolshunov is allowed to use his existing Rossignol skis, but not new ones.

– The suspension of the contract will be lifted when the sports federations allow the athletes to compete again.

Bolshunov has 265,000 followers on Instagram. He won three golds, silver and bronze at the Beijing Olympics.
