Aleksander Kilde and Beat Feuz struggled hard to win the plunge cup.
AOP
In the French Courchevel Meribel, the last race of the Men’s Downhill World Cup was counted. The victory fell to Austria Vincent Kriechmayer. The difference with the second To Marco Odermat accumulated 0.34 seconds.
However, Switzerland fought for the victory in the overall cup of the fall Beat Feuz and Norway Alexander Kilde.
The struggle to win the plunge cup remained exciting until the very end of the season, with the difference between the men before the final fall being just 23 points.
Feuz pulled a longer streak in the French plunge, beating Kilde by 0.31 seconds. The duo’s rankings were 3rd and 4th in the race, so Kilde took a 13-point difference to Feuz despite winning the plunge cup on Wednesday.
The third place in the plunge cup went to Italy Dominik Parisille.
The overall World Cup will be won by Marco Odermatt of Switzerland, who crashed second on Wednesday. At the age of 24, he will become the youngest overall alpine skier to win the all-time cup.
Spectacular return
Kilde, 29, returned with a rumble to the World Cup after last year’s cross-link injury. He won seven World Cup races this season.
The Norwegian also secured a victory in the overall competition for the Super-g World Cup in the past, although the last race of the French race weekend has not yet been counted.
