Alec Segaert signs first professional contract with Lotto Dstny
A three-year contract has been signed, whereby the rider will compete for Lotto Dstny’s continental Development Team in 2023 and until mid-2024, before making the step to the pros until at least 2025.
“Alec Segaert was able to immediately manifest himself in his first year with the U23 team,” says Kurt Van de Wouwer, team manager of the Lotto Soudal Development Team. “His results, but also his way of racing and work ethic show that he is a great talent, both in the time trial and the classics. We therefore quickly entered into a conversation with him to be able to map out his trajectory for the coming years together. We are very happy that we came to this beautiful plan together.”
Alec Segaert himself is equally enthusiastic about the future. “This season I have noticed how well this team suits me: the way of working, but also the ambition to keep moving forward. On the one hand, there is the proven track record with developing own talents into top cyclists such as Tim Wellens, Florian Vermeersch or Arnaud De Lie. On the other hand, the team continues to develop itself further: in the performance department and in terms of material. The new Ridley time trial bike definitely played a part in my decision.”
