Alec Baldwin’s charges have changed.
The New York Times magazine knows how to tell that the actor Alec Baldwin the charges have been reduced.
Baldwin charged with involuntary manslaughter after the gun he was using accidentally killed a cameraman on the set of Rust Halyna Hutchins.
The mitigations stem from a law that has since changed, which Baldwin’s lawyers seized on.

Prosecutors initially sought a conviction under the new law, which didn’t take effect until after the shooting. According to the new law, Baldwin could have received a five-year sentence, but since the case is being handled according to the law in force at the time of the incident, Baldwin can receive a maximum of 18 months in prison.
The prosecutor agreed to the request of Baldwin’s lawyers.
– The prosecutor’s priority is securing justice, not securing the most billable hours of lawyers from the big city, representative of the prosecutor’s office Heather Brewer says.
The terrible accident happened in October 2021 during the filming of the movie Rust.
Baldwin was handling a prop gun that wasn’t supposed to have real bullets. However, the gun went off and Hutchins was killed by the bullets.
