After the tragic shooting on the set of the film “Rust” there were heavy accusations and counter-accusations. To this day, it has not been clarified how a live cartridge got into the barrel of the prop Colt that fatally injured camerawoman Halyna Hutchins on October 21, 2021.
Over the course of the complex investigation, local prosecutors urged the cell phone of actor Alec Baldwin, who fired the shot, to be read. He persistently refused. Until yesterday.
According to a report by the New York Times, the actor will soon hand over his cell phone to the authorities. This was announced by his lawyer Aaron Dyer on Thursday. As a result, an agreement would have been reached with the authorities in Santa Fe County. The search warrant that was already pending in mid-December would therefore be obsolete. Baldwin’s attorney also dismissed reports that his client was unwilling to cooperate. Any claims to the contrary would simply be untrue, according to the NYT.
Visibly worn down by the ongoing media storm, Alec Baldwin reported via Instagram. He described the reports as “lies” and “nonsense” and did not want to support the investigations extensively. Nevertheless, the investigators should not see every intimate correspondence on his smartphone. A regulation would now have been made about this. It’s all about one thing: uncovering the truth about Halyna Hutchins’ death, Baldwin says in his video message.
