The BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) nominates Egbert van Dijk as a candidate deputy in the new Drenthe provincial council. The 53-year-old politician from Ruinen is currently still an alderman in De Wolden, where he is involved in finance and sports, among other things.
According to BBB party leader Gert-Jan Schuinder, Van Dijk distinguishes himself with ‘his background, Drenthe network and connecting approach’, making him a ‘valuable addition’ to the Drenthe board.
Before his term on the board of De Wolden, Van Dijk was alderman in Meppel (2006-2010) and held various management positions in the business community.
“I see it as a wonderful opportunity to dedicate myself to Drenthe on behalf of BBB,” says Van Dijk about the chance to become a deputy. “I like to use my experience at the municipality to tackle the challenging questions that lie at the provincial level and involve the residents of Drenthe in this.”
The BBB is currently negotiating with the PvdA, VVD and CDA about a new provincial government. It is not yet clear when an administrative agreement will be reached and what tasks Van Dijk and the other deputies will be assigned.
Schuinder previously informed RTV Drenthe that the new provincial council will work with four area deputies. “In addition to your task as a deputy for agriculture or traffic, for example, you are also a deputy for North, South, East or West Drenthe,” Schuinder explained.
In addition to Van Dijk, the BBB will most likely provide a second deputy. Who that will be is not yet known.
