VVD alderman Bas Luinge of the municipality of Aa en Hunze suffered a cerebral infarction on Saturday. He is in the hospital in Assen.
Mayor Anno Wietze Hiemstra announced this prior to the city council last night. Hiemstra has been in contact with Luinge, according to the mayor he is clear and approachable.
The tasks of the alderman will be taken over by other members of the council for the time being. Alderman Ivo Berghuis is responsible for the land affairs, water and waste portfolio, while Alderman Kiena ten Brink is responsible for education and sports. Mayor Hiemstra is responsible for the economy, recreation and tourism.
