Alcohol ban introduced at the Blue Lake to prevent nuisance

Starting tomorrow, an alcohol ban will apply at the Blue Lake near Hoogersmilde. The municipality of Westerveld is introducing the measure to prevent nuisance.

The alcohol ban applies to the beaches, the beach entrances, the parking areas and the immediate vicinity of the swimming lake on the border of the municipalities of Westerveld and Midden-Drenthe.

In the public area, visitors are not allowed to drink alcohol or have alcoholic beverages with them. According to the municipality of Westerveld, there have recently been several reports of nuisance, the measure should prevent further problems. The police and enforcement of the municipalities will check. Anyone carrying alcohol will be fined.

Previously, there were already problems with illegal parking at the Blauwe Meer. That is why traffic controllers will be deployed this summer.
