Alcides loses to closest competitor in the final phase

FOOTBALL – Alcides has lost 1-2 to nearest competitor De Zouaven in the Dutch big league. The visitors took the lead in injury time and left the team from Meppel scoreless.

Alcides did take the lead in the first half. From a cross from Glenn Arts, Marnix Jager found the goal with his head.

Twice Van Trigt

Not long afterwards, De Zouaven managed to equalize from a quick counter. Dennis van Trigt was the finisher. Alcides didn’t give up after that, but the chances were not taken.

In the injury time of the match, De Zouaven emerged as the winner against all odds. Again it was Dennis van Trigt who managed to get the ball past goalkeeper Xander Jager.

Due to the defeat, Alcides remains on 19 points from 18 games. This puts the team from Meppel in eleventh place in the A major league.
