FOOTBALL – Relegation worries continue to plague Alcides in the Dutch big league. The Meppelers lost at home to RKAVV: 2-4.
Alcides, which hardly took any points in the last matches, is in twelfth place with nineteen points. An important confrontation with direct competitor TAC’90 awaits Monday. The club from The Hague is two places below Alcides.
After more than an hour of play, RKAVV threatened a punishment for the team of trainer Wilko Niemer. Although the guests from Leidschendam only took the lead just before the break, things went badly wrong for Alcides in the second half. Within a time frame of twenty minutes, RKAVV ran out to 0-4.
In the last fifteen minutes of the game, Alcides made the score even more bearable. Leon Kooiker and Ruben Zanting scored on behalf of the home team. That revival was not enough for a point.
