FOOTBALL – Alcides lost 2-1 today against last-placed SDO from Bussum. In the standings of the Hoofdklasse A, the Meppelers remain 12th with 19 points.
Early on after the kick-off, SDO took the lead and the home team held on until the break. Alcides had opportunities, but was unable to capitalize on them. After the break, Alcides did get the deserved connection goal. Nick Kuiper’s hard shot was impossible to stop, making the 1-1 on the board.
Not long after the restart, SDO was awarded a free kick on the edge of the 16-meter area. The ball found its way through the wall of Alcides, leaving goalkeeper Xander Jager without a chance. In the remaining twenty minutes, Alcides was unable to straighten his back, making defeat inevitable.
Alcides remains 12th in the standings with 19 points from 20 games. The gap with Emmen in 13th place is only three points and TAC’90 follows at 5 points. On Saturday Alcides will receive RKAVV in Meppel and on Easter Monday the Meppelers can go to The Hague for the important game against direct competitor TAC’90.
