Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz will not take part in the Swiss Indoors in Basel, which begins on Saturday.
As the organizers of the tennis tournament announced, the 21-year-old world number two from Spain is out, according to his doctor, due to inflammation of the sole of his left foot and problems in the gluteal muscles.
Alcaraz is now aiming for the prestigious Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy at the beginning of November, where he could face world number one Novak Djokovic from Serbia.
Recently, Alcaraz had remained below his potential. On the tour of Asia he lost in the semi-finals in Beijing to the Italian Jannik Sinner and in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai to the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
