World number one Carlos Alcaraz impressively passed another difficult test at the 136th All England Championships in Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old Spaniard defeated the initially equal Dane Holger Rune, with whom he had played doubles together as a youth, after a balanced start in 2:20 hours confidently 7: 6 (7: 3), 6: 4, 6: 4.
Alcaraz is the youngest semi-finalist in Wimbledon since the 36-year-old Novak Djokovic in 2007. Alcaraz can only meet the defending champion and seven-time Wimbledon champion in the final, before that the Russian Daniil Medvedev is his opponent in the semi-finals.
The third in the world rankings prevailed in a sometimes wild exchange of blows 6: 4, 1: 6, 4: 6, 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 1 against the American Christopher Eubanks.
Djokovic and South Tyrolean Jannik Sinner will contest the second semi-final on Friday.
