Albert Verlinde supports criticism of Beau: ‘Gordon’s chatter is scandalous’

Albert Verlinde supports the massive criticism of Beau van Erven Dorens and his historically bad TV interview with Gordon. “Yes, I certainly think it is right that he is criticized for that.”

It is a stain on the TV career of Beau van Erven Dorens: his extremely uncritical interview with Gordon, who was allowed to gush about his ex Gavin Rozario without any contradiction. The moral compass of the juice channels works better than Beau’s: he let Gordon get away with an accusation of schizophrenia and opening up a family trauma.

Albert sneers

Gordon casually revealed that Gavin’s brother committed suicide: disgusting. And Beau? He delighted in sky-high viewing figures and eagerly leaked fragments to the media. The criticism of both Beau and Gordon was immense. How does he react to it? Beau calls his critics ‘bloodhounds’ and criticizes that Goor should not bare his soul.

What nonsense, says Albert Verlinde, who, together with Beau, founded RTL Boulevard. “Yes, I think it is right that he has been criticized for that. The fact that he responded and said: ‘Yes, then he is not allowed to talk about his own problems!’… That was not the point,” he says in the online section In The Walkways.

Schizophrenia

Albert thinks that Beau should not play dumb. “What mattered to me – and I haven’t said it anywhere yet – is that you are of course not going to broadcast the problems of another family on TV. It is not up to Gordon to say whether or not that boy is schizophrenic and that brother committed suicide. That is really scandalous.”

Coincidentally, Albert has just had contact with Beau. “Yes, I also had contact with that today. App contact. He is going abroad and if I had some tips for him. Yes, not with Gordon, but just traveling.”

Beau Felderhof

Has Albert also expressed his criticism to Beau? “No, we were just texting today, but who knows, I might see him again soon. We eat together every now and then, so that’s nice.”

How could this go wrong, according to Albert? “This goes wrong because they thought: we are doing a kind of Rik Felderhof, but the treatment was more serious. Yes, you shouldn’t do that. The team is also to blame. Someone in management should have said: we are not doing this, we are removing this.”

Four or five years

Host Wilfred Genee agrees. “Yes, something like that, and maybe you should have said to Gordon: you shouldn’t do it for a while, dude. Take your time.”

Albert: “Yes. Nothing at all for about four or five years. Hahahaha. Yes, you see with Gordon: if he only gets this for a while, it’s: I’m back! With MAX in the Christmas concert… He really thought: this is my resurrection. Well, so not.”

Wilfred: “Surely he could have put everything behind him, stood above it all and thought: I will continue?”

Albert: “He can’t do that, he can’t do that.”

‘It’s going to be difficult’

Is Gordon’s TV career over? “I really think it will be difficult. He really got a chance, I thought, with that Christmas concert and that interview. AThe fact that Gerard Joling said the next day: ‘That program won’t happen’, that RTL said: ‘It won’t happen’, that is a sign. And I don’t think he will be accepted by John de Mol for a while.”

Wilfred: “I don’t think so if I can estimate it that way. It’s sad, but you’re also there.”

Albert: “And you can’t shit on your own nest. You cannot line your pockets at Talpa for years and then pretend that you have been terribly mistreated. I think many Dutch people think: they would have given me five of those years.”
