Albert Verlinde thinks the way Jort Kelder attacked him in the talk show Op1 is pretty lame. He was quite taken by surprise during the broadcast. “I thought: oh yes, that’s how it went.”
The pointing finger that Albert Verlinde put out a few weeks ago in Op1 to municipalities that do not do enough to receive refugees, he got back in his face like a boomerang. Albert is a councilor in Vught, but had no figures ready about how many non-Ukrainian refugees his municipality will receive itself.
Jort keelhas Albert
Presenter Jort Kelder questioned him sternly about it. “I don’t hear numbers, Albert,” he said. “How much of that category do you include in that beautiful villa village?”
Albert didn’t come out very strong. Do have a big mouth about other municipalities that do not do enough, but do not even know whether non-Ukrainian refugees are received in his own Vught at all. “I do not know. I can’t say that. No, I cannot say that.”
‘Oh yes, that’s how it went!’
How does Albert look back on that spicy TV confrontation with Jort? “I thought: oh yes, that’s how it went, haha! It’s kind of his role and I’ve known Jort for so long. I also think it’s a bit of teasing, easy teasing. I’m not that sensitive to that. It’s a game, I always think,” he responds in the Weekend.
Albert shrugs. “Maybe that’s a tip for everyone, because nowadays people are so dead serious, the charm of the beginning is gone. Everyone just rants at each other, it’s just arguing: he says this and he says that. Guys, come on! Have a little fun together.”
‘Guys, take it easy’
Albert increasingly misses his early days on television, when there was no question of all those fierce reactions. “We didn’t take it all as seriously as everyone does now.”
He concludes: “Occasionally someone was angry, but then you talked it out and continued. Nowadays everyone is jumping on top of it, including social media. Guys, it’s just showbiz, calm down.”
