Sometimes you can’t quite put your finger on why certain presenters are the losers at a given moment, but at the moment it is Leonie ter Braak who is suffering terribly. She is being criticized from all sides for her failed transfer from Talpa to RTL, where she currently only appears in ridiculous celebrity panels.

‘Say no!’

Private star journalist Jan Uriot has declared Leonie an ‘RTL clown’, AD dragon Angela de Jong finds her really ‘stupidly annoying’ and according to media critic Victor Vlam, people ‘en masse hate her’.

What does Albert Verlinde actually think of it? He joins the section In The Walkways to all Leonie bashers. “Yes, I think that’s such a shame. I worked with her here at SBS, I thought she was a really nice journalist with nice questions and then at RTL you end up in a kind of tsunami of non-programmes, which makes me think: just say no.”

Big mistake

Leonie has made a big mistake, Albert thinks. “She had everything, didn’t she? She had talk shows here that she did, she was in that fantastic film De Beentjes van Sint Hildegard, she did everything well and then you go to RTL for the money, and because something may have been promised, and then you are in Doet-ie It does or it doesn’t. Then I think: I shouldn’t have done it.”

Host Wilfred Genee fears the worst for Leonie. “Soon you’ll be like Merel Westrik, then you’ll just sit at home. Things can go that fast, right, in this profession.”

Nice talent

Albert does not think it is right that Merel is unemployed. “Yes, this is at home, right? But I think he also deserved another chance, because he can do something.”

Who is Albert positive about? Britt Dekker. “I think that’s a nice talent. She knows what her role is and what she is good at. He’s not stupid.”
