Albert Verlinde bashes Rob Kemps, is counting on TV exit: ‘It’s over’

Albert Verlinde fears that we will soon see Rob Kemps lying in the ditch of the Media Park. He thinks that his contract with SBS 6 will not be extended. “His image has really been tarnished.”

The period in which Rob Kemps was associated with television viewers as fun and sympathetic is really over due to his callous behavior towards the mother of his children. The presenter has abandoned his family with young children for his background dancer and tells his ex that he is now ‘having more fun than EVER!’.

Albert critical

While his former lover Miriam Swinkels takes care of the children at home, we continuously see how Rob works the background dancer with his tongue. It’s really not worth seeing, says Patty Brard, for example. She finds it ridiculous that Rob posted a photo at Christmas of himself making out with Stephanie Klaver, the dancer in question.

What do we associate Rob with these days? With callousness and insensitivity. That is not such a disaster in the case of his employer SBS 6, but his low viewing figures are. According to Albert Verlinde, the viewers are clearly done with it. He therefore expects that there will be no contract extension in March.

‘It is over’

Magazine Weekend speaks to Albert and asks him what he thinks of Rob. “People no longer find Rob Kemps sympathetic since he exchanged his family for his backing singer. What do you think, has he had his time at SBS 6?”

Yes, Rob answers. “At the time it was really a golden opportunity to bring that man in, but it all didn’t work out. That program, The Wheel, cost a lot of money. He may still get a program, but another large contract will be a waste of time.”

Tarnished image

According to Albert, Rob’s image can no longer be saved. “I find it hard. It’s someone who shouts from the rooftops how happy he is. Then I think: well… I don’t want to talk for the other person about whether he should do that or not. But his image has certainly been tarnished.”

He concludes: “It is no longer the brash from-left-to-right gentleman, that is over.”
