Albert Hein Laarderweg closes; especially a problem for the elderly

This Saturday the Albert Heijn on the Laarderweg in Bussum will close its doors. The supermarket was popular in the neighborhood. “Not an extensive range, but ideal for a quick errand,” say local residents who will miss the store.

“It’s really worthless that the store is closing,” says local resident Mrs. Westerbrink. “Luckily I can still walk well, but this will be a significant problem for many older people in the area. As far as I can remember, Simon de Wit was first located here and later Albert Heijn. It has been here for fifty years. I must honestly admit that the store has deteriorated in recent years. It no longer looks so fresh,” Westerbrink continues.

Yet the reactions of local residents are mixed. “For me it is not the end of the world. There are so many supermarkets in the area these days. As far as I am concerned, it can become a children’s playground,” says local resident Thierry.

Maryam is especially concerned about the elderly. “For me, the range was somewhat limited, but the closure is less favorable for the elderly in the area, because they are often less mobile,” she notes.
