Cheers to Alba Berlin! The women’s team has made it into the women’s basketball league (DBBL).
In the game against the Rhein-Main Baskets, the women from the capital won clearly with 99:71 (47:35) and, after the 84:70 win in the first leg, not only secured their place in the final of the 2nd Women’s Basketball Bundesliga (DBBL), but for the first time since the establishment of the Alba women’s area 14 years ago, also the ticket for the upper house. The best thrower for the Berliners was Stefanie Grigoleit with 17 points.
In front of 2200 spectators in the arena at the Ostbahnhof, where the women competed in front of the men for the second time in a double match day, the Berliners were the more present team from the start. With an attentive defence, in which Grigoleit in particular excelled, and a quick game forward, Alba gained an early lead (20:10/6.).
The guests from Hesse, on the other hand, hardly found their way into the game and could not prevent the sovereign Berliners from continuously increasing the gap.
After the third quarter, the hosts were already in the lead 77:48 and left no doubt about victory afterwards.
