Fourth Alba defeat in the fourth Euroleague game. Not surprising for long-time Bayern and Bamberg coach Andrea Trinchieri (55).
The Italian had already predicted it before the start of the Basketball Euroleague. For him, Alba is the worst team in the Euroleague.
And his bitter prognosis still stands after the 76:85 defeat in Monaco. The trainer’s team Israel González together with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne winless at the bottom of the table.
“Let him just say that,” said Alba professional Louis Olinde to the BZ. “I respect him. He is an incredible coach with a lot of basketball expertise. But if we continue to develop, we won’t be the worst team in the Euroleague.”
While Trinchieri himself has Lyon-Villeurbanne just ahead of the Berliners, Olinde sees his team ahead of the French – and also ahead of some other teams: “There are a few teams that are worse than us,” Olinde is sure. “With our energy, with our team basketball, we won’t end up last. I’m sure.”
Twelve bankruptcies in a row
Last season, Alba finished 15th in the Euroleague with eleven wins, lost 23 games and had a horror series of twelve defeats in a row.
In just over three weeks there will be a showdown between the two cellar candidates in Berlin. By the way, Alba won both games against the French last year. It will be seen by November 15th at the latest whether Trinchieri will be right with his tough prediction…
