Alba Berlin celebrated its first victory in its second test match in preparation for the Basketball Bundesliga season.

The newly formed Berlin team narrowly won 90:89 (41:41) against league rivals Basketball Löwen Braunschweig on Sunday. The best Berlin throwers were Sterling Brown with 21 points and Christ Koumadje with 14.

A week after the 78:81 loss in a friendly against Hamburg, coach Israel Gonzalez again had more personnel alternatives available. With the two centers Koumadje (visa problems) and World Cup participant Yanni Wetzell, two important players returned. However, the German World Cup participant Johannes Thiemann and the two Italians Matteo Spagnolo and Gabriele Procida were still missing.

Gonzalez tested a lot in the game, tried out a number of players in several positions and also had several systems played. “To find out what would fit best with our new team,” Gonzalez said.

Alba will start at the Magenta Sport Cup in Munich next weekend. In addition to hosts FC Bayern Munich, the Euroleague teams Virtus Bologna and Red Star Belgrade also start there. Point game starts on September 28th with an away game at the MLP Academics Heidelberg.
