Alba suffers next EuroLeague defeat

Alba Berlin is still waiting for its first victory in the Basketball EuroLeague. Two days after the defeat at Virtus Bologna, Alba and world champion Johannes Thiemann lost at AS Monaco 75:86 (40:47) and are therefore still at the bottom of the table with four defeats from four games.

After an even opening phase, the hosts pulled away at the beginning of the second quarter, but the Berliners never came back. Even guard Matt Thomas’ 17 points couldn’t prevent the defeat. At Monaco, which has a balanced record of two wins and two defeats after four games, Mike James was also the best scorer with 17 points.

Coach Israel Gonzalez’s team will have the next chance to get their first win next week. On Thursday, Alba welcomes Olimpia Milan (8 p.m./MagentaSport).
