The basketball players from Alba Berlin narrowly missed out on a surprise at the top Italian team Armani Milan. The capital club lost 76:82 (35:37) on matchday 20 in the Euroleague and remains bottom of the table.
The best Berlin throwers were Johannes Thiemann with 13 and Sterling Brown with 12 points.
In addition to Louis Olinde and Ziga Samar, coach Israel Gonzalez also had to do without the injured Justin Bean. His team showed a good reaction after the disappointing 77:97 home defeat against Bamberg in the Bundesliga. The Berliners defended with commitment and were able to pull away to within six points in the second quarter. In this phase, Alba failed to extend its lead. Milan went into the break with a 37:35 lead.
The Berliners were able to keep the game evenly balanced in the third quarter. The hosts narrowly led 60:58 before the final period. Alba stayed within striking distance until the end. In the end, however, the Italians had better nerves and secured success.
