That comes as a surprise: Alba professional Oscar da Silva (23) leaves Berlin after just one year and moves to FC Barcelona. He still had a two-year contract in Berlin.
At the end of September 2021, Alba was happy about a new addition Oscar da Silva. The national player had switched from Ludwigsburg to the German champions shortly after the start of the season – not without background noise, as there were different opinions between the club and the player about the exit clause.
In Berlin he signed a three-year contract until 2024 – again with an exit clause. And the native of Munich now drew them. His new club: FC Barcelona. This was announced by the Berliners and the Spaniards on Monday. There he signed a contract until 2025.
The 23-year-old quickly became a regular player and top performer in the past season, made 45 Bundesliga and cup games and 33 games in the EuroLeague.
“We are very proud of Oscar and the way he has grown with us in just one season. He has impressively demonstrated his skills this season and has grown as an athlete and as a person,” becomes Alba’s sports director Himar Ojeda quoted very diplomatically in the press release.
And da Silva only finds words of praise “for an incredibly exciting, instructive and successful season. It is with mixed feelings that I am starting a new sporting chapter today, but I will always be grateful to you for the chance to develop in this way and at the same time to have so much fun doing it.”
Nice parting words. But in terms of sport, da Silva is a big loss for the Berliners, who at least hoped to be able to keep him for more than just a year. Unfortunately didn’t work…
