Born in Berlin, he will remain with Alba for three more seasons.
All Berlin basketball fans breathe a sigh of relief: Alba has an expiring contract with Guard Jonas Mattisseck (23) extended by three years.
The darling of the crowd, who always attracts attention with his tough defensive play and spectacular threesomes, comes from the Alba youth team and has developed into a top performer for the Berliners in recent years.
At just 23 years old, he has already played 176 Bundesliga and 109 Euro League and EuroCup games. And it could have been a lot more if he hadn’t broken his hand last year.
“great enrichment”
Numerous top teams were on Mattisseck. But he chose Alba. Sporting director Himar Ojeda is correspondingly pleased: “It’s great that we’re continuing on our path together at Alba. Jonas is also a great asset to the team in terms of personality and personality. He is a strong representative of the Alba program and fully identifies with our philosophy.”
Mattisseck has had his share of the last three championships, plus two cup wins. Most recently he played an average of 16 minutes and scored 5.2 points. In addition, there is the outstanding three-way rate of almost 47 percent. Only captain Luke Sikma (59 percent) was better with the Berliners.
Jonas Mattisseck explains his decision: “Our fans are always there for us and push us to our limit, regardless of whether we end up celebrating championships or suffering painful defeats. I’m looking forward to the next few years and can’t wait to get going again.”
And the Alba fans certainly too…
