Alba Berlin is champion. The basketball pros won against Bayern Munich with a significantly higher point difference – and thus celebrate the third championship in a row.
Second chance seized: In game four of the BBL final, Alba Berlin defeated the basketball team from Bayern Munich with a 96:81 win (52:36) and was crowned champion. Coach Israel Gonzalez’s side won the best-of-five series 3-1, securing their third title. Cup winner Alba also celebrated the sixth double in the club’s history.
Bayern with four consecutive home defeats
Two days after the disappointing home defeat against Bayern (60:90), Jaleen Smith (23 points) and national player Johannes Thiemann (15) led the winner of the main round to a decisive victory in the Audi Dome. Berlin conceded only one defeat in the entire play-offs.
FC Bayern, which ended its season with four consecutive home defeats, had its top scorer in Augustine Rubit (15) in the fourth final duel of the flagship clubs after 2018, 2019 and 2021.
In the coming year, both teams will meet again at least four times. In addition to A license holder Munich, who has permanent starting rights, Berlin is also back in the European premier class, the EuroLeague.
