Alba Berlin suffers setback in EuroLeague

Despite a strong performance from basketball world champion Johannes Thiemann, Alba Berlin suffered another setback in the EuroLeague.

Two days after the late win against Zalgiris Kaunas, the Berliners lost against the Turkish champions Anadolu Istanbul 89:97 (40:37) on Thursday and suffered their eleventh defeat in the 13th game.

Thiemann was Alba’s best scorer with 31 points. Shane Larkin scored 32 points for the guests, for whom world champion Justus Hollatz was on the floor and contributed nine points.

Alba fought back strongly after a mixed first quarter and earned the opportunity for the next success. Berlin was in the lead halfway through the final quarter, but then lost touch after an 8-0 run.

Alba’s next game in the EuroLeague is next Thursday (7 p.m./MagentaSport). Then the Berliners travel to Red Star Belgrade.
