First stop after PSG-Aus
After the last four games without a win, the Qatari first division club Al-Rayyan SC announced the separation from coach Laurent Blanc on Sunday. Nicolás Córdova, currently coach of Qatar’s U23 national team, will temporarily take over the position of the 56-year-old Frenchman.
Blanc had joined Al-Rayyan in December 2020, for the former French national coach the club was the first coaching station since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016. In the current season, the team for the most valuable player in the league and ex- Munich’s James Rodríguez suffered 10 defeats (8 wins, 4 draws) in 22 games under Blanc in all competitions. Al-Rayyan is currently ranked 9th in the Qatar Stars League.
