Yle reported that actor-presenter Aku Hirviniemi’s behavior led I’m a Celebrity… Let me go – program to the fact that a member of the production team made a written notification from Hirviniemi to the people responsible for the production.
The notice referred to the fact that Hirviniemi has behaved inappropriately towards women who were in the work group. According to Yle’s information, the events took place during two nights out, when the actor was also heavily intoxicated.
CEO and responsible producer of ITV Studios Finland, which produced the program Pete Paavolainen confirms to Yle that they received a notification about the presenter’s inappropriate behavior in the early stages of production.
– It is true that in 2021 I’m A Celebrity Finland -in the early stages of the program’s production, we received a notification about the inappropriate behavior of the program’s host towards other members of the work group during the work group’s evening outings.
Paavolainen tells Yle that the situation was addressed immediately. The company has zero tolerance for any kind of harassment.
– After this, the host of the program no longer participated in the joint production evenings, and there was no interference during the final production.
MTV, which showed the program on its channel, also got information about Hirviniemi’s inappropriate behavior. Responsible for MTV’s corporate communications Suvi Aherto tells Yle that there was a serious discussion with Hirviniemi about the conditions for the continuation of TV production.
Hirviniemi also went through the situation with the persons to whom inappropriate proposals had been made. MTV and the production company ensured every day that the atmosphere on set was safe for everyone.
– At that time, the issue was discussed with production. I also apologized to the production, and they also offered support to the people I had offended, Hirviniemi commented on the incident to Yle.
