Steven Bergwijn and Josip Sutalo have started Ajax’s last training before Saturday’s home match against PSV. The captain and defender missed the away match against Heracles Almelo last Saturday because they were not fit.
Chuba Akpom is also training. He was sick in bed last week when Ajax won 2-4 against Heracles on the artificial grass. Nottingham Forest made another attempt to acquire the striker on Thursday just before the transfer market closed. But Ajax did not want to cooperate in a transfer.
Ajax had a fairly quiet transfer period. Jordan Henderson came over from Al-Ettifaq and Kian Fitz-Jim (Excelsior) and Julian Rijkhoff (Borussia Dortmund) are back in Amsterdam. Anass Salah-Eddine continues his career at FC Twente and Georges Mikautadze has returned to Metz.
Henderson can make his debut for Ajax in the match against the leader from Eindhoven. Gáston Avila will no longer play this season due to a serious knee injury. Branco van den Boomen and Sivert Manssverk are on their way back after injuries.
Trainer John van ‘t Schip will give a press conference in the Johan Cruijff ArenA from 2 p.m.
