The Ajax Women will face Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. This was announced today during the draw in Nyon. If Ajax reaches the semi-finals, FC Barcelona or SK Brann will be the opponent.
The club from London is first in the English league and reached the semi-finals in the Champions League last year. Then they lost against FC Barcelona. The Dutch Aniek Nouwen is under contract with the English, but injured her cruciate ligament in December and is out for the rest of the season.
After the historic victory Ajax reached the quarter-finals at AS Roma by finishing second in the group. In the quarter-finals, the numbers two will face one of the three teams that came first in the other group. Ajax could also have drawn FC Barcelona or Olympique Lyonnais.

The first leg is on March 19 or 20. Ajax will then have to do it in the Johan Cruijff Arena without captain Sherida Spitse, who will then serve a suspension. The return in London is a week later, on March 27 or 28.
The Champions League final is on May 25 in Bilbao, Spain.
