Ajax Women ran into an expensive loss of points in the top match against PSV. At Sportpark De Toekomst, the team of trainer Danny Schenkel was stuck in a goalless draw.
The team from Amsterdam started the game with a lead of twelve points. So there was a lot at stake for PSV to make some progress in the title fight.
Ajax Women got the biggest chance before half time through Jonna van der Velde. She shot with the left, but Sari van Veenendaal tapped the ball wide. After the break, Ajax mainly looked for the attack, but Romée Leuchter also couldn’t get the ball past Van Veenendaal. In the final phase Chasity Grant hit the post.
Ajax Women is the number two after nineteen matches with 42 points from 19 matches. League-leader FC Twente has the same number of points, but still has one match to go. VV Alkmaar lost 2-1 to PEC Zwolle last Friday. The Alkmaarders have 16 points after 19 games.
