Ajax is one more prize richer. The national champion has received an Oscar for creativity for a playful action after winning the national title last year.
In 2021 Ajax decided to melt the championship scale to more than 40,000 champion stars, which were then distributed among all season ticket holders. Ajax wanted to do something for supporters because they were not allowed to enter the Johan Cruijff ArenA because of corona.
Ajax has now won the Cannes Lion in the PR category. Commercial director Menno Geelen is very happy with this. “We are thrilled to receive our most recent bowl in front of our fans and are already looking forward to the next silverware we hope to achieve on the pitch,” he said on Ajax’s website. “But we are also proud of the worldwide appreciation for our creative work off the field, and this lion for ‘Piece of Ajax’ in particular.”
