Ajax is in talks with Jan van Halst to temporarily join the board. After the departure of Edwin van der Sar at the end of last season, the club from Amsterdam has no general manager.
Ajax actually wants Alex Kroes as general manager and chairman of the board, but Kroes still works at AZ and has a non-compete clause there. He is still talking to the Alkmaar club about the possible lifting of that non-compete clause, but it is not yet clear whether and when that will succeed.
Until that is successful, Ajax wants Jan van Halst to temporarily take a seat in the management team. The former professional footballer has been a member of the Supervisory Board at Ajax since May 26, 2023. He will step down as a member of the Supervisory Board when he is given the temporary position as director.
