Ajax: Sosa transfer from VfB Stuttgart could have repercussions for Mislintat

Sosa transfer could have repercussions

On deadline day, Ajax Amsterdam signed Borna Sosa from VfB Stuttgart. Now this transfer may have repercussions for technical director Sven Mislintat due to possible violations of the listed club’s corporate governance statement. Sosa’s move was handled by the consulting firm “AKA Global”, which in turn owns a share in the company “Matchmetrics GmbH”, which Mislintat co-founded in 2016 and in which he has a 35 percent stake.

“AFC Ajax NV was informed by Sven Mislintat about his participation in Matchmetrics GmbH before his appointment. “This was the subject of contractual agreements between the club and Mislintat at that time,” the Dutch record champions confirmed knowledge of this relationship in a club statement on Wednesday. But it goes on to say: “The club management received questions about AKA Global GmbH’s alleged involvement in Matchmetrics. Ajax had no knowledge of this. As a player recruited by Ajax was supported by AKA Global this summer, the club is investigating this further and is being supported by external consultants. An independent external investigation will also be conducted by an auditor.”

Mislintat stated that he would “cooperate fully and provide all relevant documents.” The 50-year-old took up his position with the Amsterdam team on May 15th. In the last transfer window he gave away players for 156.4 million euros, in return new additions came for 109.3 million euros – including Sosa for 8 million euros.
