Ajax has hired Marijn Beuker as ‘director of football’: a new title with which Ajax divides the position of technical director between two people. The 39-year-old Beuker, who worked at AZ for a long time, will be the first to hold the new position. Beuker will start his new job on December 1.
Beuker will be responsible for Ajax’s youth academy and all associated departments, such as the Scouting and Football Analytics departments. Beuker worked for AZ between 2007 and 2021, first as talent development coordinator and later as Head of Football Development and Strategy. At the end of 2021, he started as Director of Football at Scottish club Queen’s Park FC.
Ajax will soon announce the second Director of Football. “In addition to Marijn, the club will hire someone who will be mainly responsible for transfer matters and for managing the technical staff of both Jong Ajax and Ajax 1,” says Jan van Halst, the temporary general manager, in a press release.
Beuker will start his new job on December 1 and is looking forward to getting started: “Ajax is a fantastic football club with a rich history and enormous potential for the future. I look forward to getting started soon and being part of a team, with the common goal of getting Ajax back to the top,” said Beukers.
