Tomiyasu last played a match for Arsenal a year and a half ago. He made six minutes in the Premier League for the London club last season. That is why Ajax will not sign him for longer than until the end of this season. The club states that he “first needs to gain competition rhythm”, but is fit enough to be able to fully participate in training after obtaining his visa.
Ajax wanted to sign him, because the 1.88 meter tall Tomiyasu can be used in several positions: he can play as a central defender and as a back. In addition, the Japanese is fully bipedal, allowing him to play both left and right.
