Ajax player Tadic wrote against FC Volendam: ‘Fourth official should have intervened’

It was a strange sight in Volendam last weekend: after his substitution, Ajax captain Dusan Tadic was busy coaching his fellow players along the line. While trainer Alfred Schreuder stood a few yards to the left in front of the same dugout. KNVB observer Ruud Bossen is surprised that the referee allowed this. “One is allowed to coach”, says Bossen in the football talk show De Aftrap of NH Sport.

Allard Lindhout whistled FC Volendam – Ajax and was assisted along the line by fourth official Martin Pérez. Bossen was present in Volendam as the referee’s observer, but says he has made a note of the incident.

The second guest at the table is Peter Beense. The Amsterdam singer and supporter of Ajax is concerned about the disappointing performance of the reigning national champion. Beense nevertheless hopes to be on the podium again at the end of the season at a possible ceremony.

“That was the first time I felt that Amsterdam was built on water”

Singer Peter Beense

He remembered the celebration of winning the World Cup in 1995 the most. “That ceremony made such an impression on me. There were 120,000 people on the Museumplein. When they started jumping, it was the first time I felt that Amsterdam was built on water… It was like standing on a wave because the whole stage went back and forth.”
