Ajax won the away match against sc Heerenveen 4-2. After less than twenty minutes, the team from Amsterdam was already leading 3-0. John Heitinga’s team actually never ran into problems.
Early in the match, Mohammed Kudus shot Ajax ahead with a scrutinized slider. In the sixteenth minute it was Edson Alvarez who scored the second Amsterdam goal. He shot in from the edge of the box.
Walk in the park
After nineteen minutes the game seemed decided. Steven Bergwijn already combined the third for Ajax. Ten minutes later, the Amsterdam attacker hit the post after a beautiful slalom. Just before the break, the home side did something back. Pelle van Amersfoort headed in, with Ajax keeper Geronimo Rulli not looking good.
After the break it was Kenneth Taylor who seemed to decide the game. With a diagonal shot from outside the box, he made the fourth Amsterdam goal of the afternoon.
VAR
Referee Jeroen Manschot gave a penalty to sc Heerenveen shortly after the 1-4, but the VAR intervened. After viewing the images, Manschot withdrew its decision. In the final phase of the match, Sydney van Hooijdonk headed in for Heerenveen, but the home team lacked faith.
And so John Heitinga’s team booked its seventh league victory in a row. For example, it goes over number two AZ in the rankings and is equal in points with Feyenoord. The team from Rotterdam will play against FC Volendam at 8 p.m.
