Youth coach Gerald Vanenburg also leaves Ajax. “A lot has changed in football in general and at Ajax in particular. And in my opinion you should feel good about what you are doing. Ajax’s DNA is increasingly being extracted from the club,” says Vanenburg in De Telegraaf.
“With the first team I miss certain things that players can fall back on when things go badly,” Vanenburg continues.
The departure of Vanenburg is the umpteenth this season at the football club. Earlier this month, head of youth academy Saïd Ouaali and head of scouting Henk Veldmate announced that they would leave Ajax. Technical manager Gerry Hamstra has also left the team from Amsterdam.
Dramatic Season
Sports are also going badly at Ajax. Last Sunday, Ajax lost 3-0 to PSV, dropping it to third place in the Eredivisie. Earlier this season, trainer Alfred Schreuder was fired because of the poor results. He was succeeded by John Heitinga, but the game has not improved under the new trainer.
Ajax can give the season a little shine by winning the cup final. It is scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. Opponent is PSV. That match can be heard live on the radio at NH Sport.
