Ajax draws Feyenoord in the KNVB Cup semi-final

Ajax fans can put a third Classic in their agenda this season. In the draw for the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup, the team was linked to Feyenoord. The match will be played in De Kuip.

Ajax reached the semi-finals by winning 3-0 at first divisionist De Graafschap on Thursday evening.

It will be the eighteenth time that Ajax and Feyenoord will face each other in the cup. Both clubs managed to beat each other eight times. Once, in 1984, the game ended in a draw. The decision then fell in a second game, which Feyenoord won 2-1.

The winner of this edition will meet one of the other two remaining teams, PSV or SV Spakenburg.

Competition

The two teams will also play each other again in the Premier League. In just over two weeks (March 19), the team from Rotterdam will visit the Arena. A previous meeting between the two clubs was on January 22 and ended in a 1-1 draw.

The two clubs drew lots on the day when the women’s teams played against each other in the Arena for the first time. The match, which also ended 1-1, sold a record 33,742 tickets.
