Ajax player Steven Bergwijn will not be available in the coming weeks due to an injury. The captain suffered a hamstring injury during training on Wednesday and will have to watch for a few weeks.
The 26-year-old attacker will therefore miss the matches against Bodø/Glimt from Norway in the Conference League. Next Sunday, Ajax will play an away match against Heerenveen in the Premier League. In addition to Bergwijn, Devyne Rensch is also missing. The 21-year-old defender was injured against PSV and will not be fit in time for the match in Friesland.
Steven Berghuis is second captain and will wear the captain’s armband in Bergwijn’s absence. In any case, Bergwijn will not play again this month and will therefore miss the matches against NEC and AZ.
The match against Heerenveen starts on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
