The novelty that immediately captures our attention is the Live Translationthe new function that allows you to listen to the translation of a dialogue in real time thanks to integration with Apple Intelligence on iPhone.
Yes you read that right, it is possible to listen to a person who speaks another language that we don’t know, and hear in headphones, in real time, the translation of what they are saying. The system currently works in English (UK, US), French (France), German (Germany), Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish (Spain). Later this year, Real-Time Translation on AirPods will add support for Italianas well as Chinese, Japanese and Korean. And we can’t wait anymore! When it will also be available in Italian, the live translation will work with:
-AirPods 4 (with active noise cancellation), AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 3
-iPhone 15 Pro or later models
-iOS 26 or later versions
To work it will only need:
-Apple Intelligence activated on our iPhone
-The app Translate installed
-The latest version of the AirPods firmware
To use Real Time Translation this will be enough download the languages involved (both the language the other person speaks and the one we want to translate into) and enter the AirPods in your ears by connecting them to ours iPhone. From the app Settings on the iPhone, we’ll select ours AirPods, e in the section Translation we will choose the Languages that interest us. It should be emphasized that the translated conversations remain absolutely private.
