Airplane landed with smoke at Eindhoven Air Base, but it turns out to be condensation

A military plane landed at Eindhoven Air Base on Friday morning because smoke could be seen in the back of the plane. Afterwards it turned out to be condensation, a spokesperson for the air base reported. Another military aircraft has also landed as a precaution.

“Sometimes the difference between smoke and condensation is difficult to see,” said an airbase spokesman. The aircraft in question is a military aircraft, an English Hercules, that participated in the Falcon Leap exercise. There were paratroopers on the plane.

Falcon Leap
Today was the last training day of Falcon Leap, during which several paratroopers from different aircraft are dropped over the Netherlands. During Falcon Leap, there will be rehearsals for Saturday’s commemorative operation Market Garden.

Those planes fly in pairs: that’s why another plane, a Dutch Hercules, had to land when the smoke was visible. Once at the airbase, however, it turned out not to be smoke, but because of condensation.

The fire brigade responded with several vehicles, but left shortly after.
