Airen Mylene and Patty Brard raise suspicion with their public ‘reconciliation’. Is there authentic harmony here or is this a PR thing on behalf of the editor-in-chief?
Patty Brard, the big star of Shownieuws, has been notorious for years that she can’t exactly get along with everyone in the workplace. For example, she made life miserable for Jan Versteegh behind the desk of 6 Inside and she also publicly lashed out at colleague Frits Huffnagel and recently it was colleague Airen Mylene’s turn.
Really cake and egg?
It is true that Airen overdid himself by blabbing about ricocheting colleagues who were caught in a closet, but Patty’s revenge was disproportionate. She has called the presenter “stupid” and “attention seeking” after revealing that she prefers not to wear a bra.
They haven’t appeared together in Shownieuws for weeks, but last weekend it was time: Airen and Patty sat next to each other again. After the broadcast came the reconciliation photos, but how sincere are they?
Yvonne skeptical
Juice queen Yvonne Coldeweijer is skeptical. “Apparently there has been a reconciliation, sealed with this beautiful heartfelt friendship photo,” she says with some sarcasm.
And the juice channel Juice Channel is not convinced either. “Fake it till you make it. We don’t believe Patty and Airen worked it out behind the scenes. It now seems much more like a preconceived plan by the editors that they have to pretend nothing is wrong. So that the ‘Slow news’ riot quickly blows over.”
Toleration policy
It wouldn’t surprise anyone, of course: Airen isn’t known for being long-toed, and is probably professional enough to work with someone a little less collegial. Because that Patty is a problem case, according to media connoisseur Victor Vlam, is certain. He even drew a parallel with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.
Media journalist Jef Willemsen thinks that is going a bit far, he tweets. “It reads that Vlam’s entire exposé mainly consists of vague hints and insinuations that seem mainly intended to stoke a fire. True or not: accusing (former) colleagues indirectly without presenting concrete evidence does not feel very chic. Wasn’t that why Patty was pissed off at Airen?”
